About the role

Vermeer Southeast is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Systems Engineer to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a technical expert with a passion for infrastructure, cloud technologies, and client success. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in server environments, virtualization, Microsoft technologies, and cloud platforms, and will serve as a top-tier escalation point and trusted advisor to our clients. 

What you'll do

• Design, deploy, and manage Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022). 
• Lead physical-to-cloud server migrations and hybrid infrastructure projects. 
• Architect and manage virtualization platforms including VMware vSphere, ESXi, and Microsoft Hyper-V. 
• Administer and optimize storage solutions including SAN, iSCSI, and NAS arrays. 
• Manage and support Microsoft 365 licensing, Exchange Online, and related services. 
• Perform on-premises Active Directory to Intune migrations. 
• Automate device onboarding using Intune Autopilot and scripting. 
• Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell and other tools. 
• Leverage Microsoft Copilot and Copilot Studio for productivity and automation. 
• Build solutions using Microsoft Power Platform including Power Apps and Power Automate. 
• Design and manage cloud infrastructure in Azure and AWS environments. 
• Configure and manage email security protocols (DMARC, DKIM, SPF, MX records). 
• Administers Windows Domain services including DFS, AD, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP. 
• Provide Tier 3 support for complex technical escalations. 
• Advise clients on infrastructure strategy, security, and best practices. 
• Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions (e.g., Veeam). 
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge sharing. 

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in systems engineering or similar role, preferably within an MSP. 
• Expert-level knowledge of virtualization, storage, and Microsoft technologies. 
• Strong experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and hybrid environments. 
• Proficiency in scripting and automation (PowerShell, etc.). 
• Familiarity with Microsoft Copilot, Power Platform, and modern workplace tools. 
• Deep understanding of networking and security fundamentals. 
• Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills. 
• Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, VMware VCP, AWS Solutions Architect) are a plus.
