Compensation: $19/hr 


Regular Duties 

Our mission at HOEM is to create wonderful communities and our Digital Designer (DD) is a key part in ensuring our HOEMies know what is happening in the building and love their time at HOEM. A high-level overview of the role is below: 

 

1. Event Graphics & Promotions 

2. Digital Screen Content 

3. Poster and Signage Designs  


We’re a team of people who does whatever it takes, so there will be other duties that you are assigned in your role with us that don’t fit nicely into this list.    

A successful candidate for this position will be skilled in graphic design and various illustration and design software. A successful candidate thinks creatively, outside of the box and is expected to adapt to changing design trends.  

Successful candidates are expected to have excellent time management, organization and prioritization skills. They must be able to meet tight deadlines, accommodate fast turnovers and communicate effectively with their supervisor.  


At the end of the contract term, success in this position will look like: 

  • Visual Impact: The building is filled with high-quality and exciting posters that capture student’s attention. 
  • High Engagement: Students and staff engage actively with the graphics displayed in the building and on screens. 
  • Event Attendance: Attendance at the advertised events is high, showing effective promotion through your graphic designs. 
  • Student Feedback: Annual feedback surveys indicate that posters and TV graphics are a primary source of information for students. 
  • Team Collaboration: The Digital Designer communicates effectively with the HOEM Team, fostering a collaborative and engaging environment. 
  • Timely Delivery: Projects are completed on time, demonstrating strong organizational skills and time management. 

Work Schedule  

Hours of Work: 5-10 hours per week, scheduled around your academic schedule. Work must be done in the HOEM Base office.  

 

Team Meetings: Mandatory and in person. These meetings will be scheduled as early as 7am and as late as 10pm bi-weekly. Exact date and time will be determined as a team based on academic schedules.  

 

One-On-Ones: To be scheduled with your supervisor around your academic schedule. Every effort will be made for these to be scheduled during an assigned work shift.   

 

Training: There is mandatory training that you need to be present for.   

Academic: August 17th - 21st, 2026

 

Move-In & Move-out Days: Move-in and move-out days are mandatory for the full HOEM team. You will receive at least 2 weeks’ notice for your assigned work hours for these days.    

August 14-15, 2026

August 22-23, 2026


Away Date Blackout Periods: Due to the cyclical nature of our work, there are specific periods that no scheduled absences will be permitted:   

April 28th - May 13th, 2026

August 11th - September 30th, 2026

April 24th - May 3rd, 2027

 

All successful candidates must maintain student status throughout their term of employment. They must also pass a Police Criminal Records Check through their local Police Department at their own expense. Preference will be given to applicants who live at HOEM.
