The mission of the Manager, Data Science at Cozey
We are looking for a highly analytical, hands-on Manager, Data Science to build our Data Science function from the ground up and grow a high-performing team over time. You’ll set the roadmap and technical standards, and deliver models and decision-support tools that drive measurable outcomes across planning and enterprise domains.
This role sits at the intersection of retail, supply chain, product, and data. You’ll partner with Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Product, Engineering, and business leaders to build forecasting, experimentation, analytics, and optimization capabilities, especially as we invest in internal planning tools, scenario planning, and constraint-aware decisioning. You’ll start hands-on, shipping early wins while building durable foundations (metrics, experimentation rigor, model governance, and production reliability).
What you'll be doing
- Own the Data Science roadmap aligned to company priorities and measurable business outcomes.
- Build and operationalize demand forecasting for multi-country, multi-channel demand, ensuring outputs are trusted inputs to planning decisions.
- Develop optimization and decision-support models to turn scenarios into clear recommended actions.
- Establish company-wide experimentation and causal measurement standards so we move fast without losing rigor.
- Partner with Product/Engineering to embed models into internal tools.
- Define execution standards: reproducibility, documentation, code review, validation, governance, and decision logs (incl. backtesting, error decomposition, bias/leakage checks, monitoring and retraining triggers).
- Measure and communicate impact: own KPIs for DS initiatives (adoption, decision quality, ROI) and translate complex work into decision-ready trade-offs leadership can act on.
We'd love to hear from you if you have
- 5+ years in Data Science, Applied Science, Analytics, or Decision Science, delivering business-critical models or analytics products end-to-end.
- 2+ years leading or managing DS/analytics (or clear lead ownership), including hiring/coaching and delivery accountability.
- Deep expertise in demand forecasting and machine learning, with working knowledge of Operations Research (optimization, linear/integer programming) and experimentation/causal inference for decision-making.
- Strong Python + SQL; comfortable from exploration to production collaboration (version control, testing, CI practices).
- Proven track record of shipping solutions that change decisions and deliver measurable outcomes (not just prototypes).
- Strong product/engineering partnership skills: deployment, monitoring, and long-term maintainability of data products/models.
- Excellent communication and influence; thrives in fast-moving, high-ownership environments. Retail/e-commerce/supply chain/planning experience is a plus.

- Forecasts, scenarios, and optimization recommendations are embedded in planning workflows and improve key KPIs.
- Cozey can run constraint-aware scenario planning (capacity, lead times, MOQs, service levels) and make trade-offs confidently.
- Experimentation becomes repeatable across the company, improving decision velocity with statistical rigor.
- DS work consistently ships with adoption, monitoring, and ROI, and the DS function scales with clear standards and trusted leadership.
